I've been procrastinating on posting this for literally years because I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about this split, a bunch of irrelevant reminiscing basically. So I've wasted all this time debating with myself whether it was really necessary to put the whole story on here, and I've finally decided that the answer is fuck you, this is my blog and I do what I want. I'll put the stuff that's not specifically about the music on this release below the download link though, so it's easy to skip if you don't care.
So, about this split. Surgical Infection is probably the least recognizable name here and also probably my favorite. I want to say that it feels similar in atmosphere to Lymphatic Phlegm while at the same time having a unique sound and not coming across as a straight up copy.
From what I've heard, WIAPWAC ventured farther and farther into weird cybergrind territory over the course of its existence (take the release I posted a couple years ago for example), but it plays pretty typical underground goregrind on this release aside from the ridiculously fast programmed drums. In all honesty, the first time I heard WIAPWAC I found it kind of unremarkable, but the songs here are solid.
It feels weird to think of calling a goregrind band a supergroup, but I mean, Trabecular Hepatocellular Carcinoma is made up of several significant people from Italian grind. We have Jaron Olocausto (WIAPWAC, Neurotic Anger Prods), Andrea Laurenti (Ecclesia Records, some projects with Bobby Maggard), and I'm pretty sure Ivan is Ivan Loi of Cannibe. I don't recognize the name Lorenzo from anything, maybe I'd know more about him if I was more well versed in European grind. Anyway, THC plays sloppy, noisy goregrind, fun stuff.

Surgical Infection was actually one of the first goregrind bands I really liked and Stinking Up the Morgue was one of my favorite releases in the genre for a while (download it here if you wish). Surgical Infection's style varied a bit between releases, but Stinking Up the Morgue is in the same style as the material on this split. The vocals are a bit weird, but I found them easier to handle than more typical gurgles when I was new to the genre. I think Surgical Infection must have been the first thing I heard with such a strong atmosphere, which would explain why it made more of an impression on me than other goregrind albums I listened to at the time (although I have no idea how I even found Surgical Infection when I'd barely even checked out the biggest goregrind bands yet). I don't listen to Surgical Infection much anymore since it's sadly been kind of overshadowed by better things, but I haven't forgotten Stinking Up the Morgue's significance to me.
When this split was announced on Surgical Infection's Facebook page I wasn't familiar with either of the other two bands or Neurotic Anger, but I was immediately curious about Wrong Illegal Abortion Procedure With Alarming Consequences because of the project's ridiculous name. Despite my best efforts, it took me at least a year to find anything by WIAPWAC to listen to. It's funny, five years later that doesn't seem so bad, but at the time it felt like forever and I feared I would never find anything.
Surgical Infection more or less vanished from the face of the earth in late 2013 and at this point I don't have much hope that that's ever going to change. The dude did release something new with his main project Gore Obsessed in 2015, but after that he went silent once more. Trabecular Hepatocellular Carcinoma is the only band on this split that I can guess is still active with reasonable confidence, having put out a split tape with Ulcerotomy on Lysergic Meltdown earlier this year. WIAPWAC hasn't released anything in a few years now, and I think I remember Jaron expressing intent to quit the project at some point, I can't remember for sure though.
